Septic System Repair
Slow drains, wet spots over the field, odors and backups, fixed by restoring the drain field inside the tank you already own instead of replacing it.

Huntersville grew fast, and not every home got a sewer line. Houses on the large lots west of I-77 still run on a septic tank and a drain field. So do older places near the Lake Norman shoreline and out past Neck Road. The ground under those fields is heavy Piedmont clay, and clay takes water slowly.
Everclear is based in Statesville and covers Huntersville inside a 50-mile service area. Our main job here is septic system repair that leaves the yard alone. We restore a failing drain field with a small aeration and bacteria unit set inside your existing tank. Call or text (336) 624-7314 for a free on-site evaluation of the tank and field.

Huntersville sits in the Piedmont, where red clay starts a foot or two down. The USDA named a soil series after this county back in 1910. Its description puts 40 to 60 percent clay in the subsoil. Water movement through that layer is rated moderately low.
Iredell soils are harder still on a drain field. They form over diabase and gabbro, dark rock found across the Carolina Piedmont. The USDA calls their permeability very slow. It also notes water perching one to two feet down from December through April.
Slow soil gives the biomat an easy time. That is the black slimy layer of organic build-up that forms in the soil around the drain lines. It seals the trench walls, and the field stops taking flow. Aerobic bacteria digest that layer, which is how a field comes back without a new one.
The northwest border of Huntersville follows the Lake Norman shoreline. Lake Norman is a Duke Energy reservoir on the Catawba River. Cowans Ford Dam holds it back, and the lake filled by 1964. It covers 32,510 acres with roughly 520 miles of shoreline.
Mountain Island Lake forms the southwest border of town, past Latta Nature Preserve. It is smaller, about 3,281 acres, and it holds Charlotte's drinking water. More than a million people in Mecklenburg County rely on it. Mount Holly and Gastonia draw from it too.
The EPA says a failing septic system can push pathogens and nutrients into groundwater and surface water. Nitrogen and phosphorus feed algae in lakes. On a shoreline lot there is rarely room for a second drain field anyway. The aeration and bacteria unit goes inside the tank you already own, so the field stays put.
Huntersville was incorporated in 1873 and stayed small for a long time. In 1990 it had 3,014 people. By 2020 the census counted 61,376, making it the 15th largest municipality in North Carolina.
Most of that new housing went in with public sewer. Newer neighborhoods like Birkdale Village, NorthStone, Vermillion and Monteith Park came with the growth. The homes off those sewer lines are farmhouses and lake cottages on big lots out west. Many still run on the tank they were built with.
Older tanks were often buried under grass with no easy way in. That means digging every time somebody needs to look inside. We add riser access at ground level so the lid opens without a shovel. Most of those tanks also never got an effluent filter on the outlet. That filter keeps undigested solids out of the drain field.
Septic permits and inspections in Huntersville go through Mecklenburg County Public Health. Its Environmental Health side runs a Groundwater and Wastewater Services division. That division permits and inspects onsite wastewater systems and private wells across the county. The state rules behind all of it sit in 15A NCAC 18E.
Everclear is a North Carolina certified septic installer. Our work is a retrofit inside the tank you already own. Nothing gets replaced or made bigger, and the drain field is never dug up. If your county health department needs to be involved, we tell you before work starts.
The only digging is a shallow line for the air pump, so the site goes through NC 811 first. Most installs are finished in a day. We do not pump tanks, replace tanks or put in new drain fields, and we refer that work out. After the install we keep the system healthy on a maintenance schedule, with the first year of visits included.

We install septic tank risers that bring the tank access up to ground level. Cracked or buried lids get replaced with a riser lid that fastens down.

An effluent filter screens solids out of the water leaving your septic tank, so they never reach the drain field. We install filters on existing tanks and clean them on every service visit.
